Abstract
706,274. Continuous-casting machines. ROSSI, I. Jan. 29, 1952 [March 8, 1951], No. 2384/52. Class 83 (1) In apparatus for continuous casting, molten metal is conducted from a reservoir or furnace R to the mould 1 by a spout 4 having the outer surface 6 of its lower end shaped to conform to the shape of the mould passage and to be spaced therefrom a distance only sufficient to provide adequate clearance, preferably not exceeding oneeighth of an inch. Such clearance prevents molten metal from rising between the mould and the spout but leaves the mould free to be reciprocated vertically and to be lubricated by lubricant poured into the said space. The spout may be of metal or refractory material depending upon the metal being cast. Specifications 437,064, 489,568 and 531,525 are referred to.
