462,294. Transmitting mechanical power. STUBBE, F. July 29, 1935, No. 21486. Convention date, March 6. [Class 38 (iv)] An infinitely-variable speed-changing gear includes an epicyclic gear of the sun-and-planet type combined with an electric machine having two relatively rotatable parts, such as armature and field elements or two armatures rotatable within a fixed field. The shaft 1 of an internalcombustion engine drives the planet carrier 8, the sun wheel 7 being connected to the armature 23 by shaft 17 while the rim 4 is connected to the hollow shaft 12 which is geared to the final driven shaft 3. The field member 24 of the electric machine is also geared to the driven shaft 3. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 376,285.
