461,986. Printing - surfaces. VOMAG BETRIEBS AKT.-GES. Aug. 27, 1935, No. 23997. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1934. [Class 100 (ii)] Printing-plates are secured to the cylinders of copperplate printing-machines by attaching one end of the plate to an adjustable tensioning device mounted within the cylinder, while the other end is passed round a segment-shaped member, also adjustable transversely of the cylinder for tightening purposes, and is turned inwards to lie upon the first-mentioned end of the plate so that the two end portions are clamped between the segment-shaped member and the cylinder body. The printing-plate 1 has one end 3 attached by bolts and a clamping bar to a rail 6 which is in screw-threaded engagement with a bolt adjustable by worm gearing from a shaft 15. The other end 2 of the printing-plate is brought round a movable segment 17, which is so arranged that the parts of the plate adjacent the ends thereof are brought into contact and no gap is left in the cylinder circumference. The end 2 of the plate may be attached to the segment 17 which is also movable by worm gearing from a shaft 15<a> parallel to and symmetrical with the shaft 15. The shaft 15<a> serves to rotate a screw spindle carrying a slidable tightening jaw 18, the movement of which like that of the rail 6 may be limited by a stop, and which imparts sliding movement to the segment 17. The shafts 15, 15<a> are actuated from the cylinder ends and may be operated simultaneously for adjusting and tensioning the plate. The ends of the cylinder may be covered by annular discs which are provided with projections engaging recesses in the segment 17 and the cylinder ends and serving to hold the segment in its normal position.
