Abstract
237,028. Evans, A. B. April 28, 1924. Printing-surfaces. - In devices for clamping thin planographic printing-plates to their cylinders, of the kind in which the end of the plate is clamped to a single bar mounted in a recess in the cylinder and operated by screws to strain the plate, the bar is mounted and guided solely upon fixed pins which pass through slots in the bar, whereby the bar is adjustable axially and laterally. The end of the plate e, Fig. 4, is gripped between clamps c and a bar a which is mounted by means of slots a, Fig. 2, upon pins b projecting from the radial face of a recess in the cylinder and upon which the bar is adjusted by screws g. These screws may pass through clearance holes in the clamps c and tapped holes in the bar a and bear against the face of the recess, or they may pass through clearance holes in the bar a and be screwed into the cylinder, collars being provided upon them to engage the inner face of the bar. Axial adjustment of the bar is effected by screws screwed into the ends of the bar and engaging with the end pins b or, as shown, with fixed abutments i. In a modification, the screws h are carried by the end clamps. c.
