[Class 100 (ii)] To permit the copper printing-plates mounted on the forme cylinders of intaglio printing- machines to be interchanged or repaired, the cylinder 1 is mounted so that it can be moved out of printing position by the aid of a slot or groove 3 and rails of known type, and the cylinder is received at one end of its axle in a frame which can be swung around a vertical axis to permit of action upon the cylinder. The end 5 of the axle is received in a shackle 7, which normally rests in a horizontal position, but is raised and held in the position shown in Fig. 1 in order to receive the axle. By means of a screw 19 the axle is clamped in position, and the cylinder is further supported by means of a bracket 14 connected by a strut 15 to an arm 13 supported by a vertical pillar 11 which is rotatably mounted in step bearings 12 in a base plate 10 secured by screws 9 to the frame 2 of the printing-press. A screw clamp comprising a fixed jaw and a movable jaw 18 prevents lateral movement of the cylinder prior to its being moved about the pillar 11, and a toothed quadrant 23 on the bracket 14 engages the gear-wheel 24 of the cylinder while it is being rolled into position on the swinging carrier, and prevents rotation of the same when in position. The bracket 14 can be locked in definite position by a spring bolt 22 engaging in holes 21 on the pillar 11.
