Abstract

246,706. Barker, R. W., (American Bank Note Co.). May 18, 1925. Inking-apparatus.-In an inking-apparatus for a printing-machine, a carriage, movable towards and away from the printing-plate, supports one or more distributing-rollers, and, pivoted concentrically therewith, a number of independent swing frames each carrying an inking-roller mounted in bearings adjustable radially of the distributing-roller, and each swing frame being adjustable angularly and adapted to be locked to the carriage in the adjusted position. The carriage 10 supports two distributing-rollers 11 with each of which coact two inking-rollers 12, 13 mounted in bearings 15, 27 carried by frames 20, 32 pivoted about the axis of the roller 11. The bearings 15, 27 have screwed stems 16, 28 carrying nuts 19, 31 by which the bearings can be adjusted radially of the roller 11 to adjust the pressure of the rollers 12, 13 on the roller 11. The frames 20, 32 are adjustable angularly to adjust the pressure of the rollers 12, 13 on the printing-plate 14 by screws 22, 33 passing through lugs 21, 34 on the carriage 10 and are locked in the adjusted position by screws 26, 37 passing through slots 25, 36 in the frames and engaging the carriage 10.
