Abstract
460,411. Thermal switches. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. June 18, 1936, No. 16983. Convention date, June 27, 1935. [Class 38 (v)] A thermal switch has a fixed contact 20 and a movable contact 19 on an angle bracket 18<1> fixed to a spring arm 10 carrying an armature 17 co-operating with a U-shaped permanent magnet 14 between the poles of which the contacts are situated. Contraction of a liquid such as toluol in a container 1<1> acts through a bellows 3 to allow a spring 8 to move down a rod 5 which acts through a nut 26 and tongue 11 to move the spring arm 10 downwards with a snap-action to close contacts 19, 20. Expansion of the fluid moves the bellows upwards to break the circuit. Temperature setting is effected by screwing the nut 26 relative to rod 5. Also a pivoted magnetic member 25 may be moved relative to the air gap of the magnet to alter the range of operation.
