Class 38 (5) [Also in Group XIII] A bimetal element, of dished, non-developable surface so that it snaps to reverse curvature upon temperature change in order to displace a control member, such as a switch contact 10, has a circular portion 1 and a surrounding annular portion 2 joined by a bridge portion 4. Furthermore, the element is fixed at its centre, e.g. on the head of an adjusting screw by means of a hole 5, and the control member to be displaced is mounted on or adjacent the portion of the annulus 2 diametrically opposite the bridge 4. The portion of annulus 2 adjacent the bridge 4 bears against a stop such as the end of an adjustable screws The bimetal may be heated by electric current passed through it by way of the contact 10 and by way of either the central adjusting screw or a further contact 8 which co-acts With a fixed contact with which it may be made to remain in contact by adjustment of the central and stop screws. Resetting upon temperature reversion may be automatic or it may require application of pressure on the annular portion 2.
