816,916. Thermal switches. VINTEN, C., VINTEN, E. A., and VINTEN Ltd., W. Dec. 31, 1957 [Dec. 31, 1956], No. 39693/56. Class 38 (5). The movable contact of a thermostat is carried by an actuating arm of heat insulating material attached to the temperature-responsive element. As shown in Figs. I and 2, the movable bridging contact 7, co-operating with the fixed contacts 6, is carried by one end of an actuating arm 8 of " Tufnol " (Registered Trade Mark) and the other end of the arm is attached to the righthand end of a bimetallic plate 9, slotted at the left-hand end to accommodate the arm. The free ends of the slotted plate are drawn together by a bolt 12 to bow the plate. In a modification, Fig. 6, the plate 9 is formed with two further limbs 20 which are spirally shaped as shown at 21.
