Abstract

954,233. Thermal switches. OTTER CONTROLS Ltd. March 16, 1962 [March 16, 1961], No. 9682/61. Heading H2B. A thermal switch comprises a movable contactcarrying bimetallic element 11 fixed at one end to a metal plate 10, having wing-portions 16 in good thermal contact with a metal casing 1 and connected to a resilient metal member 12 in good thermal and electrical contact with the casing, the three members 10, 11, 12 being insulatingly mounted on a fixed contactcarrying plate 8 supported by a metal strip 6 mounted through an insulating block 5 in a metal carrier plate 4 bolted to a flange 3 of the casing 1. Casing 1 is exposed to a fluid in response to the temperature of which the movable contact 13 of element 11 snaps into and out of contact with fixed contact 8a to close or open a circuit containing auxiliary apparatus.
