Abstract

428,874. Thermal switches. LEDWARD, T. A., 75, Dovercliffe Road, Stoneycroft, Liverpool. Nov. 22, 1933, No. 32550. [Class 38 (v)] A contact 5 on a bimetallic blade 4 is mounted in a fluidtight enclosure 2 which may be flexed about a point 2a in order to adjust the temperature at which the switch operates. The vessel 2 is preferably made of copper and current may be led through the vessel to a contact 3 adapted to co-operate with the contact 5. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the bimetallic strip 4 is mounted in the movable end of the vessel 2 and bending of the vessel is effected by a screw 9<c>. The contacts 3a and 5<a> consist of wires arranged so that they are perpendicular to each other at the point of contact.
