Abstract

1,061,865. Thermal switches. OTTER CONTROLS Ltd., and J. C. TAYLOR. Aug. 24, 1965 [Aug. 24, 1964], No. 34537/64. Heading H2B. A compact thermal switch, suitable for motor protection, for example, comprises a shallow metal case 12 substantially the same shape and size as a snap-acting bimetallic plate 1 which is enclosed therein by being spot-welded to two projections 11 on a metal plate 10 forming a cover for the case 12. The bimetallic plate 1 carries a moving contact 7 on a cut-out tongue 2 and a fixed contact 8 is mounted in an insulating bush 9 on the plate 10. Terminal.tags 15 and 14 are respectively provided on the contact 8 and the plate 10 and either may be employed as a mechanical mounting for the switch. Alternatively a special lug for mounting the switch may be provided on the plate 10.
