Abstract

The switch is used to detect and control a heat source. It comprises a bimetal strip (5) which is sensitive to heat, two silver contacts, and a permanent magnet block (7) used with a magnetic material strip (8) fixed onto the bimetal strip (5). The permanent magnet produces a snap-action movement of the switch to prevent arc formation between the contacts. The bimetal strip deflection is adjustable by means of a screw to obtain various temperature settings of the thermostat. The fixed contact of the switch is part of a spring strip (6) whose position can be adjusted by means of a screw to either increase or reduce the magnetic effect of the permanent magnet (7).
