Class 38 (v) [Also in Group XXIX] A "range" control or adjusting mechanism of a temperature-sensitive or pressure-sensitive switch comprises a ramp 14 and a rider 19 movable along the ramp to impart a movement, due to the lift of the ramp, to an adjustable setting member 3 for setting the temperature-sensitive or pressure sensitive element to operate at the desired temperature or pressure, the ends of the ramp being independently adjustable to set the extremities of the temperature or pressure range. In the Figs., the ramp is a bar 14 having its ends guided in slots 15 and adjustable by set screws 21. A control spindle 16 with a knob 17 carries the rider or pin 19 which may be moved along the bar 14 to cause a platform 3 to pivot about its supporting spindle 4 to adjust the position of a bimetallic strip 2. The strip 2 carries contacts 7 co-operating with fixed contacts 8 and an armature 10 co-operating with a permanent magnet 9 to provide snap-action. The strip 2 is adjustably mounted on the platform 3 in the manner described in Specification 628,010. Instead of the strip 2, a flexible metal bellows may be mounted on the platform 3 which may be slidably mounted.
