Abstract

458,613. Pumps. GLASSPOOLE, G. H., 37, Portland Road, Rugby. Sept. 7, 1935, Nos. 24963/35 and 3167 /36. [Class 7 (ii)] Means for compressing the charge comprise a chamber a into which air from the atmosphere is forced by an injector e attached to the exhaust pipe f and from which it passes by a pipe b, a second pipe c being provided at the top of the chamber for the escape of the exhaust gas. The passage d leading from the injector may be radial or tangential to the chamber. The pipe b leads either to a chamber enclosing the carburetter to which fuel is supplied by a pump adapted to maintain an adequate head of fuel, and, in the case of a Diesel engine, direct to the cylinders.
