Abstract

456,875. Pipe couplings. NUNAN & STOVE, Ltd., and PARKES, R., 103, Church Street, Pendleton, Salford. May 1, 1936, No. 12394. [Class 99 (i)] Relates to hose couplings of the type wherein each half coupling comprises a coupling-ring a, which has claws band wedge surfaces c and is rotatable about a pipe d to which the hose is secured., and a jointing- ring e, which is rotatable relatively to the ring a and to the pipe, with a packing-ring g between the ring e and the end of the pipe. To permit free turning movement of the ring e whilst effectively holding it in place, balls h are provided extending partly into the ring a and partly into the ring e. The balls may be inserted through a hole in the ring a, the hole being subsequently closed by a screw i. In a modification, there are only four balls, each mounted in a separate recess in the ring e and projecting into a groove in the ring a; alternatively, in this form, two or more balls may be grouped in a short slot.
