[Class 99 (i)] A shroud for making a spigot and socket joint held be cementitious or other bonding material comprises a concave portion a adapted to grip the socket, an intermediate shoulder c and a convex portion b adapted to grip the spigot. The part a may be rendered more resilient by grooves d some of which, for example, alternate grooves, may be shorter than others. Slits g, inclined and undercut extend from the spigot edge of the shroud. The slits may be V-shaped with the wider part at the edge of the shroud. The material of the shroud may be thicker at the part opposite the pouring hole (not shown). Specification 505,009 is referred to.
