Abstract
A heat-conducting wall for furnaces, ovens, or the like consists of material fused and cast in the molten condition and having an alumina content of at least 85 per cent. Pure alumina or alumina mixed with 5-15 per cent alkaline earth oxides may be used, e.g. a spinel consisting of 72 per cent of alumina and 28 per cent of magnesia. The material may include 5 per cent of soda ash and, as impurities remaining in fused bauxite, small amounts of silica, titanium oxide and iron oxide.
