Abstract
In the process described in the parent Specification for refining aluminium and aluminium alloys prior to casting, by agitating them in a hydrogen-free atmosphere while treating the surface of the molten metal with a flux, the flux is modified by the inclusion of boron or titanium or a compound thereof, for example, borates, perborates, borofluorides, borax, sodium borofluoride, potassium borofluoride, potassium fluotitanate, or a mixture of titanium oxide and acid potassium fluoride.
