Dry processes of refining metals and alloys.- The process described in the parent Specification, for recovering or refining light metals such as aluminium or magnesium or their alloys by treatment with magnesium chloride, is modified by the addition to the magnesium chloride, either before or after the melting, of substances such as oxides or fluorides of magnesium, calcium, aluminium, or other metals. At the end of the process a small amount of the mixture may be added to the surface of the molten metal.
