Abstract
455,471. Grease guns. WILMKING & CO., 4, Mozartstrasse, Billefeld, and PIEPER, H., 5, Lanterstrasse, Elberfeld, both in Germany. Feb. 5, 1936, No. 3521. [Class 102 (i)] In a grease gun of the type in which a h.p. cylinder 1, Fig. 8, is arranged inside a container 2 and carries a l.p. piston 9, which supplies the grease to the suction ports 5, the ports 5 are controlled by a positivelyoperated valve 6. The grease is discharged through a passage 19 in the h.p. plunger 3, which is pressed into the cylinder against the action of a spring 4. The passage 19 may be open at the end, or closed, as shown, by a plug 16, in which case the grease enters the passage 19 through passages 28, 18 controlled by a positively-operated valve 29. In the position shown the plunger 3 is rising and grease is being supplied to the passage 19. At the top of the stroke a projection 31 on the valve 29 engages the cylinder cover and the valve 29 is closed. At the same time the plunger 3 engages the valve 6 and uncovers the ports 5. At the end of the suction stroke a stop 30 on a wire 7<11> carried by the valve 6 engages the valve 29, whereupon the valve 6 is closed and the valve 29 is opened. In a modification the valve 29 is replaced by a sleeve working on the exterior of the plunger 3. The sleeve carries a pin, passing through slots in the plunger 3, and engaged by the stop 30. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement having no discharge valve. The suction valve 6 is elongated and formed with a rack 12, which is engaged by a resilient pin 8<1> carried by the plunger. The pin 8<1> yields when the valve engages the end of the cylinder or a stop 13.
