455,044. Air-screws. ELLIOTT, A. G., Holmwood, Quarndon, near Derby, and RUBBRA, A. A., Red Roofs, Carlton Road, and FAIRHURST, L. G., 57, Lindon Drive, both in Derby. March 8, 1935, Nos. 7363 and 25439. [Class 114] A variable-pitch air-screw with hydraulic gear for altering pitch is provided with a hub which with the sockets for the blade roots is machined from the solid and with an external operating cylinder from which links pass through openings in the hub walls to inwardly projecting pins on the blade roots. A central sleeve a<2> of the hub is splined at a<1> to the crankshaft a and further held thereon between conical collars a3, a<4>. The piston b<2> is secured to an extension of the shaft and movable mounted thereon is a cylinder b<1>. The bolts d for holding the cylinder cover are adjustably mounted and extended to move in a sleeve f passing through the hub wall. A link g<2> is pivotally attached to the bolt extension f and also mounted on a needle bearing g<4> on a pin c on the blade root.
