Abstract

1,241,314. Variable-pitch propellers. A FEROY. 19 Aug., 1968 [25 Aug., 1967], No. 39655/68. Heading B7V. A variable pitch propeller comprises blades 15 each having a flange 14 in a hub 10, each flange having two pins 16 respectively connected to an hydraulic cylinder 25 and a piston 26. Pins 16 are circumferentially spaced around annular flange 14 and are pivotable in blocks 21, 22 which slide in transverse slots in blocks 17, 18. Blocks 17, 18 have further slots 35, 23, slot 35 receiving a flange on a member 31 which is located by part-spherical surfaces on stem 27 of piston 26, and slot 23 receiving a flange on cylinder 25. Oil is supplied through rod 39 servo-valve 38 to cylinder 25 to move the cylinder and piston in opposite axial directions, thus moving the pins to pivot the blade.
