Abstract

947,273. Hydraulic turbines. KHARKOVSKY TURBINNY ZAVOD S. M. KIROV. Aug. 31, 1962, No. 33566/62. Heading FIT. In an hydraulic turbine of the Kaplan type, the rotor comprises a hub having a cavity in which are disposed the blade trunnions and the means by which they are connected to a piston which effects variation of the blade pitch, the cavity being filled with fluid for actuating the piston. In the embodiment shown, the blades 8 are secured to trunnions 5, the trunnions being connected by linkages 2 to the actuating piston 1a, these parts being disposed within a cavity 3 within the hub of the rotor. Fluid is supplied to one side of the piston through the duct A and to the other side of the piston through the annular passage formed between the duct A and a surrounding duct B. Fluid leaking through the trunnion bearing C is allowed to escape through radial grooves in the ends of the trunnions and through bores 6 into an inner cavity 9. From there the fluid passes through duct 10 to a cavity 11 within the rotor shaft.
