Abstract

454,201. Window regulators. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and STUART, F. J., Widney Works, Bagot Street, Birmingham. Jan. 9, 1936, No. 814. [Class 20 (iii)] Means for adjusting and supporting the movable pane 8 of a window, such as a vehicle window, comprises screws 13 at the sides of the pane, which engage nuts 16 formed on brackets 15 attached to the upper corners of the pane, whereby the pane is positively retained in adjusted position independently of the control mechanism, which comprises a shaft 19 extending through a fixed part, such as a guard rail 20 mounted along the upper edge of the fixed pane 5, and operated by a worm and worm wheel 26, 27, mounted in a housing 24. At the ends of the shaft are fitted bevel pinions 18 which mesh with similar pinions 17 secured to the lower ends of the screws 13. In a modification, the operating shaft 19 is in two portions, their inner ends carrying bevel pinions which mesh with a pinion secured to the operating handle.
