[Class 20 (iii).] The adjusting and clamping means for an angularly movable panel or screen 1 on a motor or like vehicle, e.g. an antiglare screen or visor, comprises an axially rotatable shaft or sleeve 14 extending into the interior of the vehicle and carrying a coaxial pinion or bevel wheel 13 coacting with a crown or bevel wheel or sector 12 on the adjustable panel, in combination with an axially movable clamping member 24 passing through the rotatable shaft or sleeve 14 and adapted to bear upon a part 9 on the adjustable panel so as to secure the latter in its adjusted position. Preferably, as shown, the sleeve 14 rotates within a fixed bushing 15 mounted in the top bar of the frame of the wind-screen 5, and has mounted on its rear end an elbow-piece 17 and rotatable shank 20, which together form a crank for effecting the rotary movement of the sleeve 14 whereby the panel 1 is inclined to the desired angle. Locking of the panel is accomplished by turning the knurled head 21 of the shank 20 and so displacing axially in the elbow-piece 17 a screw-pin 22 having a bevelled end 23 which bears upon the slidable member 24. The latter carries at its outer end a friction shoe 25 adapted to engage a groove 11 in a boss 9 fixed on the spindle 6 of the panel 1. In place of toothed gearing 12, 13 friction gearing may be employed, and the slidable clamping member 24 may be replaced by a screw-threaded rod.
