Abstract

451,808. Excavators. DEMAG AKT.- GES., 64, Werthauserstrasse, Duisburg, Germany. July 25, 1935, No. 21141. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1934. [Class 68 (i)] A scoop arm excavator comprises a pivoted jib 2 on which swings an arm 3 to which the scoop 4 is pivoted, the latter being locked against backward movement during excavating by a spring bolt 17 which is controlled as through levers by the tipping rope 7 which passes by pulleys 16, 15, 14 to means for taking up slack such as a spring or weight loaded pulley block system 11, 13. The rope 7 is finally secured to the larger diameter of a differential drum 9 which may be driven in winding direction by a winch 8 and cable 7a; upward movement of the lower pulleys 11 is limited by a resilient stop 13<a>. After digging, the drum 8 is braked and the jib raised by cable 5, the scoop then swinging freely and the weight of the load drawing off cable from the pulley block system 11, 13. After hoisting, the winch 8 is driven to tip the scoop.
