Abstract
440,667. Excavators. DEMAG AKT.- GES., 64, Werthauserstrasse, Duisburg, Germany. Aug. 11, 1934, No. 23275. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1933. [Class 68 (i)] In an excavator in which the position of the shovel relatively to its handle is determined, during the digging movement, by retaining members provided on the handle, the shoveltipping means effects withdrawal of the retaining members from their operative position when tipping the shovel. The shovel 5 is pivoted at 6 on the arm 3 pivoted to the jib 1 and during digging, movable stops 8 engage segmental members 7, guide slots or the like on the shovel to hold the latter against yielding ; a brake, clamp or the like may replace the stops. The stops are connected through levers 22, Fig. 4, and a spring-pressnd rod 21, to a pulley 11 guided in a slot in the arm 3. A tipping rope 10 passes from the scoop over pulleys 11, 12, 13 to pulley 14, carried by a piston rod operated by means of a pump 16 driven by chain &c. 15 and supplying fluid to a cylinder 17 under control of means 19 adapted to short-circuit the cylinder ends or to close both such ends. After digging, the scoop moves by gravity to carrying position and at any position of the arm 3, on moving the pulley 14 by the fluid pressure gear 17, the rope 10 first depresses the pulley 11 to move stops 8 free of the members 7 or the like, and then tips the scoop. A winch &c. may replace the fluid-pressure gear 17, and the stops 8 may be arranged to move parallel to the arm 3, while the pulley 11 may be secured to a link pivoted to the arm 3.
