450,929. Retractable undercarriage for aircraft. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., Cranford Lane, Hayes, Middlesex, and ORDIDGE, F. H., 24, Carlton Avenue, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. July 9, 1935, No. 10413/36. Divided out of 447,610. [Class 4] A wheel 1 is carried by an oleo strut 2, the cylinder 3 of which is pivoted to the aircraft wing, and by a strut 10 pivoted at its upper end on the wing and carrying at its other end a block 11 slidable in a slotted guide 13 formed on the cylinder 3, the strut being perpendicular to the slot when the undercarriage is in the landing position. Retraction and extension are performed by a ram slidable in a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder 14 which is pivoted to the wing of the aircraft and has a rod pivotally connected with block 11. Guide 13 may be formed wth a rack and block 11 with a ratchet.
