Abstract

658,195. Aircraft undercarriages. ELECTRO-HYDRAULICS, Ltd., and PERDUE, J. Sept. 8, 1948, No. 23658. [Class 4] A retractable undercarriage for aircraft, of the kind in which a wheel is carried by a parallelogramic system of levers, comprises a wheel 1, pivotally carried by a lever 7 itself pivoted to the aircraft at 8 and being arranged to be moved about its pivot by the undercarriage shockabsorber, a non-folding strut 10, comprising the shock-absorbers, pivotally mounted between the lever 7 and the aircraft and two levers pivotally connected together, one lever 4 being pivoted at 5 to the aircraft and the other lever 3 being connected to the wheel, the levers being so arranged that the wheel moves substantially vertically. The strut 10 also functions as a jack to retract the wheel. Specification 658,193, [Group XXXII], is referred to.
