Abstract

767,859. Aircraft landing gear. DISPOSITIFS OLEO-PNEUMATIQUES (D.O.P). Oct. 12, 1954 [Oct. 14, 1953], No. 29386/54. Class 4 An aircraft is provided with at least one auxiliary front or rear landing gear including at least one steerable low pressure tyre 1, and with main landing gear constituted by one or more skis 2 pivoted on a horizontal axis 3 located slightly to the rear or front of the centre of gravity of the aircraft. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the ski is provided with a roller for running over hard ground, e.g. concrete. The ski is pivoted to the lower cylinder of a shock absorbing leg, and a further shock absorber extends between the rear part of the ski and the leg. In Figs. 3, the ski is connected to the leg 11 through a vertical shock absorber 12 and by a toggle link 13, 14 and a second shock absorber 15 extending between the centre of the toggle and the leg, the chambers of the two shock absorbers being connected by a pipe 16. The ski is formed in three portions 7, 8, 9 pivotable to facilitate retraction. A hydraulically operated member may be attached to the ski and be adapted to engage the ground to act as a brake.
