Abstract
963,333. Aircraft undercarriages. DOWTY ROTOL Ltd. June 23, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 23788/60. Heading B7G. An aircraft alighting gear includes a retractable leg 11 pivotally carrying a bogie 15 or endless track, and a compound linkage 22, 24, 28 pivotally connected at 26 to the bogie or endless track, at 23 to leg 11, and at 31 to the aircraft 13 to correctly position the bogie or endless track for storage during retraction, no landing load being transmitted through point 31. The leg 11, containing a shock absorber, is pivoted at 12 to the aircraft 13 and is retracted by a jack pivoted to the aircraft and to a lever 20 integral with leg 11. The compound linkage, which includes a bellcrank 22 pivoted to lever 28 and telescopic strut 24, maintains the bogie in a substantially constant angle relative to the aircraft during retraction. The lever 28 is attached to the aircraft by a pin and slot connection 30, 31. An upper lock and a lower lock 35 are provided and the bogie has two wheels 18.
