[Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] An arrangement for suppressing the m<th> harmonic in the magnetizing current of a transformer comprises a phase increasing device having an m-phase secondary 1d-1h and closed delta winding 2 around which the harmonic can circulate connected to the m-phase secondary. The phase increasing means may be incorporated in the main transformer, in which case the secondary 1d-1h would be a tertiary winding on the main core. For application to an existing transformer a separate phase increasing device is used, the primary windings of which are connected in series with the main transformer. Specifications 368,951 and 435,198 are referred to.
