[Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv).] In the arrangement for the suppression of the higher harmonics in the magnetizing current of saturated three-phase transformers or choking coils by means of inductances connected in the three phases of a delta winding described in the parent Specification, the three inductances 42, 43, 44 have a common magnetic circuit, Fig. 1, or are mounted on. separate cores and provided with secondary windings connected in parallel, Fig. 2. Condensers may be connected in parallel with the inductances, and a further inductance, with a different characteristic, preferably an air-core inductance, may be connected in series with each of the inductances. The 'condensers may be connected across an additional winding on the common core in the' arrangement shown in Fig. 1, or across the secondary windings in the arrangement of Fig. 2. Choking coils in accordance with the invention may be employed for the compensation of long transmission lines, particularly when condensers are employed, as described in the parent. Specification.
