Abstract
549,032. Protective arrangements. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE. Aug. 6, 1941, No. 9998. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1940. [Class 38 (iv)] Oscillatory voltages at the star point of a polyphase transformer due to multipole surges are damped by an impedance responsive to surge frequency arranged in a part of the transformer circuit which is liable to be traversed by currents of system frequency as well as of surge frequency. An impedance Z comprising an inductance in parallel with a resistance (with or without series capacitance) and having no influence at system frequency, may close the. circuit of polygon connected windings on the transformer, or be distributed equally between the winding terminals. The voltages developed across the impedance may be applied in opposition to voltages occurring in the earth connection and the star point either directly or through a damping impedance (resistance) R. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification. The secondary winding of a transformer in the earth connection may be connected to a damping impedance responsive to surge frequency. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
