449,272. Pipe joints. BRIGGS & CO., Ltd., S., Burton Copper & Engineering Works, Burton-on-Trent, and BRIERLEY, H. H., Surbiton Blow, Surbiton Hill Park, Surbiton, Surrey. Feb. 16, 1935, No. 5063. [Class 99 (i)] In a pipe joint one coupling member 3 has an external screwthread and a recessed face 3<b>, into which the other coupling member 4 enters to make a metalto-metal joint secured by a nut 5 screwing on to the member 3 and having a flange 5b engaging a flange 4<c> of the member 4. To protect the joint face of the member 4 from injury, the nut is connected with the member so that it can only be set back when in one position, the flange 5b having slots 5<c> adapted to register with lugs 4d. A packing ring 6 secured in an undercut recess of the member 4 may be provided.
