448,473. Cylinders. ELLIOTT, A. G., Darley Dene, Belper Road, and RUBBRA, A. A., Red Roofs, Carlton Road, both in Derby. Jan. 8, 1935, No. 626. [Class 7 (ii)] An upper cylinder joint, allowing relative expansion between a cylinder block a and a wet liner b, comprises metal bellows f, turned out of the solid from spring steel and sandwiched between flanges d, b<1> on the block and liner. The bellows are thus enclosed and any leakage will show outside the jacket. The liner is clamped by long studs extending between the head a<1> and the crank-case c, a metal washer d<1> being interposed. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement in which the bellows are arranged between the top of the cylinder block and the flange b<1>.
