Abstract

447,043. Windscreencleaners. DARBY, J. H., 26, High Street, Rugby. Oct. 5, 1934, No. 28613. [Class 138 (i)] [See also Group XXIX] A nozzle for projecting a jet of liquid in a predetermined direction, especially applicable for use in cleaning the windscreen of a motor vehicle, comprises a nozzle casing within which a nozzle member is held adjustably by a clamping member, the nozzle member being provided with one or more delivery passages and being rigidly connected with an element which is distinct from the casing and is adapted to be connected to the source of liquid supply. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a nozzle a of spherical form is secured to the scuttle b of a motor vehicle by two annular members c, d screwed together, a spring washer e being provided between the member d and the lower surface of the scuttle. The nozzle is provided with a tube g adapted to be connected to a supply pipe, and has an orifice a<1 >inclined to project a jet of water on the windscreen adjacent the wiper arm. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the nozzle f is provided with two orifices f and is adjustably held in a casing h by a spring-pressed annular member j. Liquid is fed to the nozzle by means of a hand pump m, Fig. 4, adapted to be connected through ball valves to pipes o, p, the pipe o leading to the nozzle and the pipe p being connected to a reservoir for water. Reference is also made to the use of the nozzle in connection with lawn sprinklers and like devices.
