Abstract
573,315. Dispensing petrol &c. TRIGGS. W. W. (Gilbert & Barker Manufacturing Co.). Sept. 27, 1943, No. 15829. [Class 116] To obtain extra servicing range, the delivery hose 10, Fig. 1, of a petrol &c. pump is connected to a rotatable turret 18 which, after a delivery operation, is always restored to a fixed initial position such that the nozzle support 22 is on the opposite side of the casing to the point of attachment of the hose to the turret, the hose thereby taking up the configuration shown, with the lowest point 23 slightly above ground level. The hose passes through the turret casing 13, Fig. 3, and is connected to a sleeve 25 turnable on ball bearings 35 on a fixed sleeve 29 bolted to the pump casing, the sleeve 25 having secured thereto a pipe 27 journalled in bearings 28 in the sleeve 29, fluid tightness being obtained by packing 37 under spring pressure 38. The petrol &c. passes from the flow meter (not shown) through a pipe 33, thence through the pipe 27 and over a circular weir 57, in which a spinner observable through a transparent window 19 is mounted, to the hose. The rotatable sleeve 25 has a crank 40 carrying a pin 41 to which one end of a cable 50 is connected, the cable being secured at its other end to a spring drum 51 so that the sleeve 25 tends constantly to set itself in the definite orientation shown. U.S.A. Specifications 2,240,458 and 2,225,271 are referred to.
