[Class 39 (i)] A discharge device is provided with a thermionic cathode and with an anode which, including that part exposed to the electrons, has an outer coating of copper or silver. A nickel anode may be coated by electroplating. The coating may be applied to the anodes of the diodes of a valve, e.g. a double-diodetriode, or to the inner grid-like member of an anode which may be used in power rectifiers and consists of an inner member, spirally wound, and an outer member connected together.
