Abstract

467,296. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and JESTY, L. C. April 23, 1936, No. 11621. [Class 39 (i)] Connection is made to a thin conducting external layer, e.g. of silver or graphite, on the vitreous wall of a device, by a lead passing through the wall and having its end cut off flush so that the layer covers the end. The other end of the lead may be brought through the wall at another point, which may or may not be coated with the layer, or it may be connected to an electrode which is furnished with an external lead, e.g. the cathode or an accelerating electrode of a cathode-ray tube.
