Abstract

442,450. Refrigerating - compressors. KOPLAR, S. E., Pershing Boulevard, Chicago, U.S.A. Aug. 13, 1934, No. 23348. [Class 8 (i)] A refrigerating- pump comprises a series of pairs of connected pistons 33, 47 reciprocated bv the rotation of their cylinder blocks 24 and receiving and discharging refrigerant through arcuate slots in the heads of the casing enclosing the cylinder blocks and providing an oil chamber 23 between them. To relieve pressure in those cylinders where the pistons are on the compression stroke when the pump is stopped, but are not in communication with the arcuate outlet slot, an auxiliary slot 99, Fig. 8, is provided communicating with the outlet slot 60 by a passage controlled by a spring-pressed valve 103 which allows passage of excess oil during stoppage and remains open, giving a larger delivery passage when the pump is working at low pressure. The pump outlets are connected by pipes 95, 96 to an unloader C from which oil passes to the chamber 23 in the pump casing and refrigerant to a separator B from which oil is fed to the unloader C and refrigerant to the pump.
