Convention date, Sept. 7, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] An insulating spacer is provided with parallel slots between the points at which the electrode supports are attached, and a baffle member is provided, having a central opening exposing the centres but not the ends of the slots, between the spacer and the electrodes so as to prevent the formation of a conductive deposit on the spacer. In one form, the mica spacer 23 is provided with slots 31 between the holes for the electrode supports, and a metal baffle 32 having an elongated aperture 34 is mounted on the anode supports 15, 16 together with the spacer and is separated from it by insulating bushings 33. In a modification, the spacer 23 is rectangular and the baffle consists of two rectangular plates separated by a narrow gap and clipped to the edges of the spacer. The baffle may be made of insulating material instead of metal.
