Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 22, 1934]. [Class 39 (i)] In order to prevent contamination of a vaporizable material such as mercury by the flaking off of an oxide or other compound of a metal, such as copper or iron, forming the anode or other electrode, the surface of the electrode in contact with the vapour is coated with chromium. An intermediate coating of nickel may be formed on a copper electrode. The anode may form part of the envelope, and both sides may be coated, e.g. electrolytically, the tapered edge, forming the seal, being left uncoated.
