[Class 39 (i)] The anode 9 consists of a film which is burnt into the internal surface of the vitreous envelope 2. Connection to the anode is effected through the wire 7 and the button 8. The film may be deposited from a vapour or by the use of a platinizing solution and may be provided with one or more metal coatings. The tube is mounted within a cooling jacket through rubber gaskets 16, 17. Water or insulating liquid may be used for cooling and may be supplied and discharged through coiled pipes to increase the electrical resistance between the anode and the water source.
