Abstract

418,980. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and RYDE, J. W., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. April 4, 1933, No. 10094. [Class 39 (i).] In tubes wherein the temperature is to be maintained above atmospheric so that the vapour pressure of some substance therein is maintained, a metal lining 3 is mounted inside the tube at its end. It receives heat from the electrode 2 and transmits it by conduction to those parts which may be inadequately heated, such as the end or the wider part 6, Fig. 2, of the tube. The upper end of the lining may be bent over as at 7, Fig. 3, or inclined to pick up heat from the electrode. The leads 5 pass through holes in the lining ; this may be polished on its exterior and blackened inside. Specifications 392,509 and 397,162 are referred to.
