Abstract

401,846. Electric discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and RYDE, J. W., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Sept. 5, 1932, No. 24713. [Class 75 (ii).] For correcting the deficiency in light of relatively long wave-length in the light emitted by a high pressure metal vapour electric discharge lamp running at a temperature greatly above atmospheric, the lamp is used in combination with a reflector or other separate surface which is coated with an inorganic substance that phosphoresces with the emission of light of relatively long wave-length. A suitable substance is zinc-cadmium sulphide containing a small admixture of copper.
