Abstract
483,708. Thermionic valves. MARCONI'S WIRELESS-TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 22, 1936, No. 28728. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] A getter pellet 21 which may be of barium - magnesium alloy, is placed in the hollow end of the cathode tube or in a cup 20<1>, Fig. 3, fixed in the end of the tube 19 ; during the exhaustion of the tube the cathode heater 18 is raised to a sufficient temperature to break down the carbonate coating and then to flash the getter, this occurring when the gas pressure 'within the envelope has fallen to a sufficiently low level. The getter may be carried by a tab on the cathode sleeve to receive' heat by conduction from the cathode. The anode 14 is carried by three insulating supports 16, and the upper mica spacer 17 for the grid rods and cathode is held by springs 18<1> bearing on the envelope. The envelope when of metal is degassed by heating prior to flashing of the getter. Specification 153,331, [Class 39 (i)], is referred to.
