[Class 37] A rectifier of the selenium type has a light metal base electrode, the oxide coating of which has been subjected to a treatment, similar to that adopted for " colouring " thin crystal layers, in which the coating is subjected to an atomized or vapour spray of metal, e.g. bismuth, tin or antimony or to bombardment with positive ions of such metals or of hydrogen, for the purpose of increasing the conductivity.
