Abstract
405,857. Metallic-vapour rectifiers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London. May 25, 1933, No. 15137. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] The igniting device 11 of a metallic-vapour rectifier, more particularly a dipping igniting device of a mercuryarc glass rectifier, is connected to one of the auxiliary or exciting anodes 6 through a switch 13, which is operated upon ignition of the arc to the anodes 6 to de-energize the device, and through a half-wave rectifier 12 to ensure that the potential on the device is always positive with respect to the cathode.
